This study analyzes the art elements present in picture books by Korean authors who received the Bologna Ragazzi Award. A total of 35 award-winning books were analyzed with respect to four key elements: color, line, space, and texture. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, among the art elements, the most common chromatic colors feature four or more hues. Second, in terms of line, free lines were the most prevalent, followed by neat lines, no lines, and mixed lines, respectively. Third, regarding spatial representation, three-dimensional depictions were more common than twodimensional ones. Lastly, in the category of texture, drawing materials were predominantly used, while collages, graphic elements, and photographs appeared in smaller proportions. These findings provide insights into the art elements in picture books created by Korean authors recognized by the Bologna Ragazzi Award. This study aims to support early childhood educators in understanding the importance of art elements in picture books and in selecting books that offer a diverse range of artistic experiences.
